Well, if you have waited until now, you are not buying it on the Internet. I love buying gifts for my loved ones on the Internet because I can compare prices and get the best deals right from my big soft recliner. In order to put some aloha in her life, I would start by looking for a cozy book written by her favorite author. There is no controversy in buying books online and you will save mightily over the retail brick & mortar stores. Same goes for music, easy shipping and no need to be there in person to touch/feel.
If you are sure that she will use it, you could also consider gift cards. I love to get those from her favorite movie theater. She can sneak away on a rainy spring afternoon to relax and have some popcorn, soda and indulge in some chocolate while watching a chick flick that none of the guys would take her to. You can also consider gift cards from her favorite department store or even a favorite online store (which you could still shop for on the Saturday before the Sunday holiday).
Most moms just want to be with the ones that made her a mom. The pressure is high for everyone on that special day created by Hallmark. Moms sometimes feel a little like a failure because everyone is talking about the virtuous woman who is so perfect and there for you at every single moment. Most of the rest of the family is feeling the stress of making sure the day is extremely special and that mom is honored properly. Speaking from being a mom myself, I think we (moms) would just love to spend a nice Sunday afternoon with our kids, our family (possibly grand kids) hear about what is going on with everyone and have some quality time enjoying each others company. I realize that not all families will be able to do that tomorrow as life has thrown you a curve, but it would be ideal.
The best thing we can do is to do our best to honor our mothers, even if it is not by being together with her or any other family. Honor her by praying for her. Honor her in your heart, it is a commandment from our creator. Try it and see how that turns out.
